Immobility
syndrome "decreased ability to perform activities of daily living due to
function deterioration."
It is a
syndrome of vital importance as it is very common, is associated with high
mortality.
Like all
geriatric syndromes it is urgent and can hide a very serious disease and
possibly reversible, if you park immobility a series of both health and family
member problems will appear.
The causes
of immobility can be of various types such as: pain, stiffness, cardiovascular
and pulmonary causes, neurological disorders such as parkinson, acv or
neuropathies, mental causes, generalized weakness, vision / hearing alterations,
drugs ...
The nursing
personal must intervene to prevent the general state deterioration, performing
a series of activities such as: making a correct history, providing water and
nutrient supply, limit the bedridden, nursing care of bedridden patients, bowel
control, monitoring rest / sleep, try to do an activity.
